Rivers State's legislators passed the Local Government (Amendment) Bill into law overriding Governor Siminalayi Fubara's assent. This was done at their 159th Legislative sitting, according to Section 100(5) of Nigeria's 1999 Constitution, which empowers the House to override the Governor's veto. The assembly also confirmed nominees for the position of Chairman and Members of the Assembly Service Commission.
