Report reveals rural Saskatchewan healthcare struggles due to staffing shortages, morale issues, and retention of family doctors.

A report by the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit at the University of Regina reveals concerns over health care in rural Saskatchewan, including hundreds of service disruptions due to staffing shortages and morale issues among workers. Mayors of small communities such as Suzanne Kuchinka and Gerald Aalbers highlight the struggle to keep family doctors as they retire or move elsewhere. The report, which examined the state of rural health care in the province, was funded by the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 5430, but the union did not direct or design the research.
