Kroger and Albertsons sell 579 stores to C&S Wholesale Grocers to address FTC concerns about their $24.6bn merger.

Kroger and Albertsons plan to sell 579 stores to C&S Wholesale Grocers to address US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) concerns about their proposed $24.6bn merger. The FTC had previously expressed concerns that the merger could lead to higher grocery prices and lower wages for workers. Under the updated plan, C&S will acquire the Haggen banner, lease the Albertsons banner in California and Wyoming, and the Safeway banner in Arizona and Colorado.
