Europe experienced its largest wildfire on record, highest number of extreme heat days, and above-average rainfall and flooding in 2023, according to a report from the EU's climate service, Copernicus. The report shows that these extreme weather events have had severe impacts on the continent, with 63 storm-related deaths, 44 wildfire deaths, and 44 flood-related deaths. Economic losses due to extreme weather events totaled €13.4 billion.
