600,000 ESA households to be moved to Universal Credit by April 2025, three years earlier than planned.

600,000 households receiving Income-related Employment Support Allowance (ESA) will be moved to Universal Credit by April 2025, three years earlier than initially planned. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is contacting claimants by sending Migration Notice letters starting early next year. This is part of a wider process called "Managed Migration" that aims to move those claiming "legacy benefits" onto Universal Credit.
