Five Canadian children are languishing in a detention camp in northeastern Syria after Ottawa denied their mothers permission to come to Canada, according to a lawyer fighting in court on their behalf. The mothers, who are not Canadian citizens, have Canadian children in al-Roj camp, one with a severe eye condition requiring medical treatment. The lawyer, Asiya Hirji, is seeking a Federal Court review of Canada's permit denial decision.
