An Oakland police officer, Jordan Wingate, who was critically injured in a crash while responding to a call in 2018, died from his injuries on Saturday. Wingate, aged 29, was the 55th Oakland officer to die from injuries suffered in the line of duty, according to the police department. He was named "Rookie of the Year" in 2018 by the Oakland Police Officers Association.
