Northern Alberta brewery owners, such as Chad Paulson of Dog Island Brewing, are against the recent cap on federal alcohol tax increases. While southern breweries appreciate the cap, northern Alberta brewers believe they have already paid enough taxes. The federal Finance Minister announced a 2% cap on alcohol excise tax increase for the next two years, instead of tying it to the 4.7% inflation rate.
