Equatic plans to build the world's largest ocean-based carbon dioxide removal plant in Singapore, capturing CO2 and producing green hydrogen.

A startup called Equatic is building an ocean-based carbon plant in Singapore to capture carbon dioxide from air and seawater, transforming it into the material of seashells and producing "green" hydrogen. The plant, set to become the world's largest ocean-based carbon dioxide removal plant, aims to store carbon dioxide as minerals, which can be used on land or put back in the sea. However, some scientists raise concerns about the vast amounts of renewable energy required to move seawater, arguing that it would be better used to displace fossil fuels.
