Zomato, India's largest food delivery platform, has received a tax demand notice and penalty order totaling ₹11.82 crore ($1.58 million) from the Additional Commissioner, Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Gurugram. The order pertains to Goods and Services Tax (GST) on export services provided to Zomato's overseas subsidiaries between July 2017 and March 2021, with a GST demand of ₹5.9 crore and a penalty of the same amount. Zomato plans to file an appeal against the order, stating that it believes it has a strong case on merits.
