Pakistan's federal government directs K-P to take over low-performing Peshawar & Tribal Areas power distribution companies if they don't address power theft.

Pakistan's federal government has asked Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to take over electricity supply in Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) and Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) if they fail to support action against power theft. The two power distribution companies (DISCOs) are among the low-performing DISCOs, contributing to the increasing circular debt, with a combined loss of Rs188bn anticipated during the current financial year.
