The FAA will require air traffic controllers to take at least 10 hours of rest between shifts, up from nine hours, to address fatigue concerns. The changes, which will take effect within 90 days, also mandate a minimum of 12 consecutive hours off before a midnight shift. The FAA is attempting to address fatigue risks and improve air travel safety while addressing staffing shortages in its workforce.
