Three contractors suffered burns during a fire at Kinder Morgan's petroleum facility in Galena Park, Houston, Texas on April 20. The fire broke out during planned maintenance work near one of the rail racks and was quickly extinguished. The injured contractors sustained first to third-degree burns and were third-party workers. The affected rail rack area has been isolated and shut down by Kinder Morgan. Flash fires often occur when flammable chemicals mix with air and encounter a heat source, such as static electricity.
