China's Chery Automobile and Spain's Ebro-EV Motors have formed a joint venture to develop electric vehicles in Barcelona. Chery will be the first Chinese automaker to produce vehicles in Europe, using Ebro's facilities located at a former Nissan plant. The venture, projected to produce 50,000 vehicles in 2027, is expected to create 1,250 jobs and triple production to 150,000 vehicles by 2029.
