Anahim Lake's Ulkatcho First Nation receives $16m funding to build Canada's largest off-grid solar project, reducing diesel generation by 64%.

A First Nation in central British Columbia is set to build Canada's largest off-grid solar project, thanks to $16m in federal and provincial funding. The solar farm in Anahim Lake, home to the Ulkatcho First Nation, will reduce the community's diesel generation by 64% - equivalent to 1.1 million litres of diesel a year. The project, expected to generate 3.8MW of power, will be built by the Ulkatcho Energy Corporation and is set to power approximately 350 homes.
