10-year-old Soliat Asiyanbi, who developed meningitis and suffered brain damage after birth at Dublin's Coombe Hospital, has had her parents settle a High Court action for a €2.6m interim payout. The hospital admitted a breach of duty in not informing the mother about the risk of Group B Streptococcus infection and the importance of signs and symptoms to look out for if her baby fell ill. The case will return to court in eight years to assess Soliat's future care needs.
