Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) extends its fare-free bus policy for another year, until end of June 2025, with 70% of Worcester residents supporting the extension. The policy, in place since March 2020, has increased ridership by 33% compared to pre-pandemic levels and has been funded by the 2020 federal CARES Act. WRTA is one of the largest and longest-running fare-free transit programs in the US.
