UK MPs unanimously supported the Pet Abduction Bill, which could jail cat and dog thieves for up to five years.

UK MPs have backed a new law which could see cat and dog thieves jailed for up to five years. The Pet Abduction Bill, put forward as a Private Members' Bill by Tory Anna Firth, aims to recognise that pets feel distress if they are stolen from their owners. The legislation, which received unanimous support, creates two new offences and would make it an offence to take a cat or dog from the lawful control of another person.
