Taiwan accuses China of creating flight safety risks by opening new air routes near Taiwanese-controlled islands, Kinmen and Matsu. China's aviation regulator states that the new routes to Xiamen and Fuzhou, which connect to the M503 flight route, benefit both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan's government has expressed anger over China's unilateral decision to change the flight path close to the sensitive median line in the Taiwan Strait in January.
