Oregon-based Climate Trust partners with Burnett County, Wisconsin, to develop a 95,000-acre forestland carbon project.
The Climate Trust, an Oregon-based nonprofit, partners with Burnett County, Wisconsin, to develop a 95,000-acre forestland carbon project, encompassing 85% of the county's total forestland. The 20-year partnership with American Carbon Registry aims to optimize and sustain the forest's utility, including forest products, recreational activities, wildlife, watershed protection, and stream flow stabilization. The project helps diversify forest-based revenues and provides additional certainty for county budgeting, with a 40-year commitment required for Burnett County's entry into the protocol.
