The bill did not secure the required two-thirds support from both chambers of the legislature, with only 41 representatives and 24 senators voting in favor of the override. The Montana Association of Counties, Montana Wildlife Federation, and Wild Montana plan to pursue similar legislation in the 2025 Legislature session.
