2.5 million litres of effluent spilled from a fibreboard factory in Quesnel, BC, but the Environment Ministry reports no immediate risk to public safety. The spill, from the WestPine Medium-Density Fibreboard plant, was assessed and no waterways were affected. Factory owner West Fraser replaced the faulty valve, and the cleanup is complete. The ministry plans to visit the site to confirm appropriate action is being taken.
