Kenya's military chief, General Francis Ogolla, died in a helicopter crash near the country's border with Uganda while on a tour of the troubled western region. President William Ruto declared three days of national mourning for the late military chief, who had a 40-year military career and was appointed Kenya's Chief of Defence Forces in April 2022. The cause of the crash remains unclear.
