Petrol and diesel prices in Ireland have reached their highest levels this year, with petrol rising by 9c and diesel by 13c due to higher crude prices and increased excise duty. The Consumers' Association of Ireland (CAI) has urged the government to delay another planned increase in excise duty set for August, fearing motorists may pay €2 per litre. The average cost of petrol is now €1.81 a litre, and diesel is €1.78.
