In a study from the University of Gothenburg, dietary treatment was found to be more effective than medications in managing irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for over 70% of patients. The research, published in The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology, compared three treatments: two dietary and one based on medicines. The findings suggest that dietary changes should be tried first before moving to drugs for relief.
