Hydro-Québec and the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake have signed a historic agreement to co-own a transmission line linking Montreal's South Shore to New York City. The $1.13 billion project, expected to be operational in 2026, will enable the export of 1,250 megawatts to New York City and generate revenue for Kahnawà:ke. This marks the first time Hydro-Québec shares ownership of its transmission infrastructure with a third party and a First Nation community.
