Defending champion Lilia Vu has withdrawn from the Chevron Championship before the first round due to a back injury. Vu, ranked No. 2 in the world, issued a statement on Instagram saying she had "severe discomfort" in her back during warmups, forcing her withdrawal. The back issue has also previously forced her to withdraw from a previous event this season.
