Autistic, intellectually disabled man, Jay, granted leave to appeal compulsory care detention to Supreme Court.

An autistic and intellectually disabled man, Jay, who has spent half of his life locked away under the Intellectual Disability Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation Act, has been granted leave to appeal his case to the Supreme Court. Although the Court of Appeal deemed his offenses minor, they justified his detention due to the high risk posed to public safety. Human rights lawyer Tony Ellis is representing Jay's mother in the appeal, arguing that her son's detention is arbitrary and breaches human rights.
