Zambia and Zimbabwe re-tender Batoka Gorge Hydroelectric Scheme, initially awarded to GE and China Power, due to pandemic and funding delays; total project cost is $4.5b.

Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) is finalising the Batoka Gorge Hydroelectric Scheme's packaging to resume tendering for developers next year. Zambia and Zimbabwe are re-tendering the project, initially awarded to General Electric and Power Construction Corp of China. Delays included the pandemic and funding issues. The dam wall costs $1.4b, power station $1.3b, and total project cost is $4.5b.
