12 years after a fatal US meningitis outbreak caused by tainted steroids from a Massachusetts specialty pharmacy, the lab chief, Barry Cadden, is facing sentencing in Michigan for 11 deaths linked to the outbreak. Cadden is already serving a 14.5-year sentence for federal crimes related to the meningitis outbreak, which was traced to dirty conditions in the lab and caused meningitis and other debilitating illnesses in over 700 people across 20 states.
