1.2 million-person study reveals 95 genome regions linked to PTSD, identifying 43 genes that may play a role in causing the disorder, as reported in Nature Genetics. This largest and most diverse genetics study of PTSD to date confirms hereditary links and offers novel targets for prevention and treatment strategies. The study also found that PTSD shares many genetic features with depression, while PTSD-specific loci were also detected.
