11 Louisiana waterways have received fish consumption advisories due to unsafe mercury levels in fish, with one new warning and ten updates to previous advisories. The Louisiana Departments of Health, Environmental Quality, and Wildlife and Fisheries issue these advisories when mercury levels exceed acceptable limits. Fish consumption advisories currently cover 52 waterways in Louisiana and one in the Gulf of Mexico.
