2 endangered black-footed ferrets cloned using 1980s genes, aiming to improve captive breeding program.

Two more endangered black-footed ferrets have been cloned using the genes of a ferret from the 1980s, raising the total number of genetically identical cloned ferrets to three. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service aims to improve genetic diversity in the endangered species by combining the cloned ferrets with a captive breeding program initiated in the 1980s.
