Bird flu has been confirmed in Kerala's Alappuzha district, with ducks in Edathva and Cheruthana Grama Panchayats affected by the H5N1 subtype of Influenza A virus. The district administration is implementing culling operations for affected birds within a 1-km radius of the epicenter and has assured there is no risk of human transmission. This is the fourth time the avian influenza has been confirmed in the region in three years.
