Bar Council of India urges governments and universities to restrict NOCs for new law institutes to uphold legal education quality for 3 years.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) urged state governments and universities to restrict the issuance of NOCs for new law institutes and affiliations for three years, in a bid to uphold legal education's sanctity and quality. Despite the BCI's efforts, over 300 NOCs were issued by state governments, and affiliations were granted by universities, according to the BCI secretary Srimanto Sen. The BCI urges greater cooperation and adherence to regulatory measures from universities and state governments to effectively address the growth of substandard law colleges.
