353 young ballet dancers, aged 9-19, broke the world record for dancing on pointe in one place at New York's Plaza Hotel, organized by Youth America Grand Prix, a ballet scholarship program celebrating its 25th anniversary. The event included students and professional dancers competing for scholarships. Adjudicator Tina Shi from Guinness World Records announced the new record, surpassing the previous record of 306 dancers.
