Asylum seeker centre in Monaghan found to be in need of "significant improvement" across multiple areas, including overcrowding, pest infestations, and lack of Garda vetting for staff, according to a Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) inspection. The inspection was part of a series conducted on accommodation centres for asylum seekers nationwide. In St. Patrick's Centre, with 338 residents, a child was hospitalized as a direct result of pests in their family accommodation.
