Vale increases 1Q iron ore output 6% to 70.8 million metric tons, driven by S11D mine improvement.

Vale, the Brazilian mining giant and world's No. 2 iron-ore producer, has announced a 6% increase in its first quarter iron ore output, reaching 70.8 million metric tons. This comes as a result of improved operational performance at its S11D mine in Northern Brazil. Iron ore sales increased by 15% annually, reaching 63.83 million tons, despite supply chain issues and port stockpile build-up causing a gap between production and sales.
