Supreme Court urges states to report on mob lynching and hate crime actions within six weeks.

The Supreme Court has urged states to report in six weeks on the actions taken to curb incidents of mob lynching and hate crimes. This comes as the Court heard a petition from the National Federation of Indian Women, which listed nearly 50 hate crimes since 2018. While the list did not include the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal in 2022, the Court emphasized that no case should be selected based on religion or caste.
