15 Sri Lankan fishermen, sentenced to 7 years in Myanmar for maritime boundary violations, received a general amnesty along with 3,000 other prisoners. This amnesty, tied to Myanmar's New Year, was granted after Sri Lankan Ambassador Janaka Bandara met with Myanmar's Prime Minister to request the release. The fishermen and their vessels are expected to be repatriated to Sri Lanka in the coming days.
