1980s French Rubis-class nuclear-powered attack submarines.

The French Rubis-class nuclear-powered attack submarines, based in Toulon, are being prepared for new missions despite their age. Capable of patrolling oceans for months without refueling, they carry a crew of 70 and are equipped with anti-submarine and anti-ship torpedoes, as well as anti-ship missiles. Their roles include protecting France's larger nuclear-armed submarines, and will be replaced by more modern Suffren-class submarines by 2030.
