North Dakota officials began construction on a new $70m State Laboratory at Capitol grounds, set to replace the existing 50-year-old lab. The 100,000 sq ft facility will be shared by the Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Health and Human Services. Expected completion by June 2026, the lab will be staffed by 50 employees, providing consultation, training, and testing services for infectious diseases, water quality monitoring, and disaster response.
