2021: Ben Exton receives Ivan Skinner Award for innovative earthquake engineering work post-Canterbury earthquakes.
Ben Exton, an earthquake engineer, received the Ivan Skinner Award at the NZSEE annual conference for his innovative work in earthquake engineering. Inspired by the Canterbury earthquakes, he aims to develop cost-effective solutions to make NZ homes more resilient against future seismic events. Exton is the first engineer outside academia to win the Ivan Skinner Award, funded by EQC Toka T Ake.
