37-year-old Ken Owens, former Wales captain, retires from rugby due to persistent back injury.

Wales and Lions hooker Ken Owens, aged 37, has retired from rugby due to a persistent back injury. The former Wales captain won two Grand Slams and two Six Nations titles during his 91 caps for Wales, and has not played since the Scarlets' Challenge Cup semi-final against Glasgow Warriors last season. Despite surgery on a bulging disc pressing upon a nerve in his back, Owens was unable to recover and has decided to retire, following medical advice.
