Nova Scotia cancels spring bear hunt due to public opposition, with 51% opposed in a survey.

Nova Scotia has decided not to hold a spring bear hunt after public consultation showed that Nova Scotians are "very divided" on the issue. The province proposed the spring pilot project in January and launched an online survey to gather feedback, with 51% of respondents opposed to a spring bear hunt, 47% supportive and 2% neutral. The decision will not impact the annual fall bear hunt.
