Maurice Boland pleads not guilty to murder, but guilty to manslaughter.
A man who admits killing but denies murdering a construction worker, and made reference to a "Conor McGregor knockout", told gardaí that he was defending himself when he struck the deceased. Maurice Boland (36) has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter, while his defence argues that the victim, Cian Gallagher, was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident, which would have made him more vulnerable.
