A Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) recruit was killed on April 15 while trying to help during a traffic collision on the 101 Freeway in Studio City. The 22-year-old recruit, Jacob Fuerte, was en route to his training when he may have been involved in a traffic collision and stopped to render aid. He was later struck by another vehicle, possibly a hit-and-run, and pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is conducting a hit-and-run investigation.
