3-week Alice Springs youth curfew ended, extended due to violence; police presence and social support continue.

After almost three weeks, the Alice Springs youth curfew has ended. Initially imposed on March 27 due to escalating violence, the curfew prohibited young people under 18 from entering the CBD between 6pm and 6am. Despite legal concerns about its legality, the Northern Territory government extended the curfew beyond its initial 14-day period. The town will continue to see increased police presence and ongoing support from social workers, with a focus on getting kids back to school and families back to their communities.
