US EEOC finalizes Pregnant Workers Fairness Act regulations.

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has finalized federal regulations for the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), which includes provisions for job accommodations for abortions. The law, which passed with bipartisan support in December 2022, allows workers to request time off for abortion-related medical appointments or recovery. The EEOC asserts that its decisions are consistent with its Title VII interpretation and court rulings. The law does not oblige employers or health plans to cover abortion costs. The EEOC's regulations will come into effect on June 18.
