UN Security Council undecided on Palestinian Authority's full UN membership application.

The UN Security Council committee is unable to reach a unanimous recommendation on whether to accept the Palestinian Authority's application for full UN membership. The Palestinians are currently a non-member observer state, granted in 2012. Full UN membership would effectively recognize a Palestinian state. The application requires approval from the Security Council, where the US can block it, and then at least two-thirds of the UN General Assembly.
